My New York: John Varvatos

My New York: John Varvatos

Last week at his Milan fashion show, designer John Varvatos debuted his 2012 menswear line, which is inspired by the New York City rock scene. The show opened with a video montage of a young man walking the streets of Manhattan with iconic NYC landmarks like the Guggenheim, Central Park and the Flatiron Building as a backdrop. Though raised in the Motor City, the rockin’ designer, 57, is clearly inspired by the Big Apple. He’s lived here for the past 25 years, mostly downtown — until three years ago, when he and his wife, Joyce, moved to the Upper East Side after their daughter, Thea, was born. This is his New York.
